All About My Disney Mediterranean Cruise

About my last post...

Okay, so, my last post talked about the Mediterranean cruise I was going to go on in May and how I was going to share the whole process leading up to it...and then...I got booked to WORK that cruise! Everything ended up topsy turvy with that addition to the trip and my neurospicy brain focused so hard that I forgot to share my process! Proud of my focus, not so proud of the forgetting. Now all I can say is, please allow me to share some of my experience and I hope if you're going on a Med cruise you might find some helpful info in here!

The Mediterranean cruise!

First things first!

Our Med cruise left from and returned to Barcelona. It was the first Med cruise the Dream has done yet! Very cool to be there for something thing like that, and yes, there was special merchandise! This was a 7-night Silver Anniversary sailing with stops in France and Italy. It was such a fun itinerary and I did my best to enjoy it even while I was working.

I made this shirt! Email me or check out my Shopify to get one too!

Characters

One especially fun part of the European cruises is that the characters dress the part as well! They still have their standard cruise outfits- formal, pirate, sailors, but they also have European outfits! They had French, Spanish, and Italian outfits on our cruise and they were adorable! Each day while we were in port the characters were in a different set of outfits. For example when we were in port in France, the characters met in their French outfits! Then at night they changed into their outfits that matched the theme for the night. On one night near the end of the cruise they had European mix night where all of the characters wore outfits from each of the three areas. Goofy, chip and dale, and Minnie wore their Spanish outfits. While Mickey and Donald wore their Italian outfits. They are all so very cute!

Special Merchandise

I didn't take many photos of the special merch but here is what I was able to snag!

I did end up buying the spirit jersey, it was just too cute to leave behind! I also bought the cruise ship ornament to set on my desk at home as a way to commemorate my first cruise project! All of the merch was so cute I almost bought all of it!

Ports of Call

Since I was working this cruise I didn't get the opportunity to get off the ship and explore so I can't give you many tips on how the ports work. One thing that I did notice from my research and by being in the ports its that when the ship gets into port it is not near the major attractions or tourist spots. You have to set up transportation and most of the places were anywhere from 30-60 mins away from the port. Just something to keep in mind while planning your med cruise! If you've done self travel from ports on a med cruise let me know how you did it, I'd love to learn more for my next one!

25th Silver Anniversary at Sea

This cruise was also a 25th anniversary at sea sailing. Which means not only were there European magic but there was anniversary magic as well! We were filming for most of the 25th anniversary special offerings, so I don't have many pictures of them but I can tell you all about them! The characters' outfits are STUNNING in person! They have decorations up in the atrium, just some sweet lil banners. They have the graphic on the funnel vision stage as well as flags at the port while you're boarding. They also had a couple of backdrops in the port for the 25th so you can catch a cute selfie as you get on board. The second night of our voyage was the "anniversary night." On longer sailings they have a captains cocktail hour, where the captains come and mingle in the atrium and servers walk around with trays of free drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) for everyone! During the silver anniversary they have updated the captains cocktail hour and they do a little show with the characters in their anniversary outfits! They introduce each character and they all stand on the grand staircase and then....they come into the crowd to dance! It was a little crazy but so much fun! They also have a fireworks show- so you get two nights of fireworks on every silver anniversary sailing!!!

Until next time!

I had a lot of fun and I highly recommend med cruises and the anniversary sailings!
